5 Reasons to come to our birthday party
5. Queso Competition
We are honoring yummy, delicious, amazing queso with a Queso Competition on our birthday party. It’s our gift to ourselves and to you.
Believe it or not, queso historians (yes, that’s a thing) attribute the invention of queso to Mexico Chiquito in North Little Rock in the 1930’s. Watch the video if you don’t believe us.
We’re looking for Northwest Arkansas’ best queso to pair with our amazing cider. If you make queso as well as we make cider, come on out to our 4th Birthday Party and be judged.
If you like to eat cheese more than you like to melt it, come out and help us judge the queso. No charge to enter or to judge.
4. The Juice
Our birthday party marks the debut of Northwest Arkansas’ merriest new band, The Juice.
The Juice is a high-energy, crowd moving, 4-piece audible fun machine that covers a variety of favorites from 70’s funk and classic rock to modern pop and hip hop. The band, with their infectious bedlam of sing-alongs and dance parties are led by the charismatic Jim Goza (Jim n’ Juice, The Poggs) on Lead vocals and guitar, Garrett Brolund (Jamie Lou & The Hullabaloo, Polyester Robot) on Bass and vocals, Michael Hanna on Saxophone, and Travis Smith (Lou Dog “A Tribute to Sublime”) on drums.
Dance pants recommended.
3. 8 Ciders + slushies
We have a stellar line-up of ciders on tap at Black Apple Crossing. Summer never tasted better than a flight of Cucumber Mint, Grapefruit, Hibiscus, and Pineapple Cider.
It’s also Slushy Season, which means you can brainfreeze to your heart’s content on Strawberry or Pineapple Cider (or a mixture of both).
What’s a great party without great food? We won’t have to find out. Here’s what’s on the menu:
Wicked Wood Fired Pizza:
***Semi-Sweet Cider Pizza – Semi-sweet caramelized onion reduction, bacon, havarti, cheddar
***Grapefruit Cider Pizza – Olive oil, mozzarella, Grapefruit Cider-marinated chicken, red onions, fresh jalapenos, queso fresco, cilantro, honey-lime grapefruit drizzle
Taquería Don Güero
***Asada tacos marinated in Dry Cider
***Al pastor tacos marinated in Pineapple Cider
Recipes and Barbecue
***Pineapple Cider-brined pulled pork
Briar Rose Bakery (brunch)
***Apple-field Danish log with a Hibiscus Cider glaze
***Black Apple cider glazed chicken wings
***Specialty slider burgers
Plus, birthday cake (of course)!
1. Barrel-aged 1904
We’re breaking out the good stuff for birthday. The Barrel-Aged 1904 is made with all Ozark apples and aged in bourbon barrel casks with hints of cherry, vanilla and whiskey shining through. This is a one-day only cider, and when it runs out, we’re out – even if that’s at 2 p.m.
Want the background? The 1904 was one of the first ciders on tap at Black Apple. As an Ozark blend, it’s named after the 1904 St. Louis World’s Fair, where Arkansas apples won all of the major categories. We are so excited to celebrate our birthday with a new twist on one of our early favorites!
